Recently, I started playing the game Mass Effect and I absolutely love it. I made this OC (a Kryptonian) way before I played the game. I thought it would be really fun to rp with her and make her into a crossover. Usually, I’m really nervous about this sort of thing especially since OCs have such a bad reputation so it was a big leap for me to even go through with it. And I got the response I knew I would get. Which was no response at all because of the character.
I feel like some people generalize OCs and/or crossover characters because of a lot of Mary Sues or God Mods. I’ve toned down my character so much and worked really hard to avoid making her a God Mod/ Mary Sue. It just really sucks being so excited to roleplay as the character and get no feedback on something you’ve worked hard on.
…haha whaaaat? That’s backwards! They’re the ones playing unoriginal fancharacters or characters that don’t belong to them, and YOU’RE the one with the actual creative and original character!
Obviously, you don’t need those people if they’re going to be like that.
