Lighten up. It’s a joke. Don’t take it so seriously. Clearly a lot of people find it funny, I don’t see the big deal.
Since when did “other people do it” become a valid reason for something to be accepted? A million ants can like poison but that doesn’t make it good.
My other post on why this subject ISN’T a joke no matter what: http://nannairb.tumblr.com/post/25945091870
“It’s only a joke if EVERYBODY is laughing. If someone’s upset, then either they’re a crybaby, or the person making the joke is a douchebag. In the case of jokes like these that disregard the feelings of victims and those that suffer, I’m preeeeeeeeeetty sure someone’s being a douchebag.
Funny because it’s shocking: Something ridiculous that doesn’t happen like one baby nailed to twenty trees.
UNTIL: There is a person involved who’s witnessed or been exposed to something like the above. Suddenly, it stops being a ridiculous and shocking thing that never happens, and therefore, not a funny joke.
Rape: Not ridiculous, and DOES happen, often, with terrible consequences, and therefore isn’t ‘dark humour’ unless you’re a giant douchebag who doesn’t care about people.”
By ‘involved’ I mean anyone, anywhere, who’s ever encountered it, whether or not they’re in your immediate group or not.
